According to the World Health Organization, more than 42 million children below the age of five are suffering from obesity. One of its major causes is that kids drink too many sugary drinks and sodas, and not enough water.
Despite shocking figures like these, behaviour and habits have proved hard to change. For United for Healthier Kids, a new CSR initiative of Nestlé, we created a virtual friend whose happiness depends directly on what children drink.
Tummyfish was launched with an original storybook, distributed initially in schools, and now available in bookstores. The book tells the tale of a little fish lost in a scary ocean. After a perilous journey she ends up being accidentally swallowed by a little boy, and discovers that safe in a child’s tummy is the best place to be. All she needs is plenty of fresh water every day. The story ends by encouraging readers to download the app (available for both Android and iOS) and start taking care of their own Tummyfish.
